Olena came to Canada from Ukraine with a suitcase full of her mother’s recipes that she couldn’t make. After years of creating such delicacies as ketchup pasta, Olena hopes, with Christine Cushing’s help, she’ll be able to make meals that her son will want to come home from university to eat. After Olena let’s Christine try her annihilated version of fried chicken, Christine knows she’s in for a long haul. Olena churns up some memories of her mother when Christine takes her to learn how to make butter. Later, she learns to bake cream cheese biscuits which helps to her attempt chocolate profiteroles at a high-end restaurant. From kooky to culinary, Christine has a lot to tackle as she attempts to teach this Ukrainian a cooking move or two.
