Morgan is a Director, Producer and Writer with 15 years of experience in scripted and unscripted television. He has been a development executive, show creator and showrunner, and has hands-on knowledge of fiction and non-fiction TV production and post-production.

His greatest strengths are in developing compelling stories for television, and in building teams that transform those stories into episodes that are delivered on time and under budget. He has directed and produced single-camera and multi-camera series in many different genres, including drama, comedy, reality, design, travel and food and he understands the production and post-production challenges of each.

Prior to running his own series, Morgan spent several years directing, producing and developing series — credits include series and pilots for Alliance/Atlantis, Global, Life Network, Slice, OWN, Comedy Network, Food Network, HGTV, Universal, Showtime, and W Network.

He developed the ½-hour single-camera comedy Smart Woman Survival Guide with one of Canada’s top series producers, Al Magee. The scripted show followed the behind-the-scenes antics of the staff of a fictional lifestyle television show. He produced and directed the successful series for 3 seasons. From there, he served as showrunner for Fearless in the Kitchen, an unscripted food/reality show that he created, produced and directed. The series starred celebrity chef Christine Cushing and ran for 3 years.

Morgan began his career as an actor after graduating from Dartmouth College where, despite a Major in Engineering & Computer Science, he spent most of his time in the Drama department – writing, directing and acting. As an actor, his prominent roles included a cross-country tour of Marlowe’s The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus with English Suitcase Theatre Company (Great Britain) and a recurring role on the Fox television series Wonderfalls. He then worked as an editor on several unscripted shows including Taste of Life and Around the Boundary.

Editing taught Morgan how to craft strong stories for the small screen and gave him a deep understanding of post-production. His visual style, storytelling prowess and organizational skills brought him out of the edit suite and into the role of director and producer. His early producing work taught him how to build and nurture effective teams that consistently deliver top-quality programming on tight budgets and challenging network schedules.

While he worked at Magee TV, he was something of a one-man-band on various non-fiction series. We’d send him out alone with a camera and a microphone and he’d come back with great material that he would have written, produced, directed, shot, lit and in some cases the edit as well.

His episodes flow, staying true to the plot and the emotional life of the story and characters, and elevating the material to the next level, making story elements visual. The worst thing is getting a rough assembly and seeing that the director just didn’t get it. This never happens with Morgan.
